We’re wrapping up our Oklahoma Cake Artist Spotlight Series with the talented Yunita Mowry of You Need a Cake! It’s easy to fall in love with Yunita’s gorgeous Designs! Thanks to Ely Fair Photography for photographing her beautiful wedding cake at Waters Edge Winery.

About the Design
The one very special technique I used for this cake is the stringwork piping called Australian Extension Stringwork. There are two types of Australian Stringwork, bridged and bridgeless. The method I used in this cake is the bridgeless stringwork that shows one part of the strings to look and actually suspended in air. The strings in the other method (bridged) will be attached to another object on the cake and not suspended in air. I love how white and gold go in harmony. The white is wedding-y and the gold just adds a certain richness to the cake. I always have a passion for anything Baroque or anything intricate, French and Italian, elaborate, lavish and gilded.

Words of Wisdom
My advice for brides will be book early, tweak the design of the cake in the picture you bring or show me. It needs to be YOUR wedding cake. Be wise with your budget. The two things people tend to remember from your wedding is your wedding dress and your wedding cake!
