A Modern Whimsical Take on ‘Something Blue’ Wedding Inspiration

Wednesday, July 21st, 2021

Why choose just one item when your whole day could be full of “something blue” wedding inspiration – like these styled scenes captured by Andi Bravo Photography! Modern whimsy manifests in every exquisite detail of this indoor and outdoor soiree at Pecandarosa Ranch where dreamy décor had us floating on cloud nine. A round backdrop rental from Party Perfect Event Rental + Design set the tone for a floral-filled cocktail hour courtesy of The Flower Shop Pryor and these faux newlyweds toasted to the start of forever under the wide-open sky. Our bride was a vision of beauty in an oh-so-romantic pale blue wedding gown from Valentine Bridal with the dreamiest tulle straps that tie on top of her shoulders. The planners at Poppy + Prim took inspo from her gorgeous gown and fresh garden style to the tablescapes indoors with natural elements and textures that truly brought wedding dreams to life down to the very last detail – in this case, a whimsical wedding cake creation by Sweet Devotion Cakery that looks so elegant and seaside ready at the same time! Join us in obsessing over this artfully light gallery and read on for a note from the planner about this “something blue” wedding inspiration. Cheers!

From the planner: “For this editorial, Poppy + Prim envisioned a modern take on the traditional ‘Something Blue.’ Throughout styling and creating the design, we made circles a prominent theme. A circle represents everything we wish for every Poppy + Prim couple – everlasting love, timelessness, and eternity together.”

Jennifer and Orlando are absolutely ready to be wed after these elegant engagement photos captured by Emily Nicole Photo around Oklahoma City! The soon-to-be-married couple dressed to the nines for poses in artful museum scenes, formal streetside shots, and finally made it to a romantic rooftop location above The Venue at PLENTY Mercantile. There, they popped some bubbly and exchanged kisses before lastly posing in sweatshirts and hand signs representing their time in Divine Nine historically Black Greek letter organizations – Jennifer was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. while Orlando was in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Both organizations would be proud to see such successful alumni so happy together in these elegant engagement photos, and we just know these two can’t wait to make their love official. Cheers to the future Mr. and Mrs. Brown!

Madison and Chase’s Delayed + Dreamy Tented Wedding Reception

Thursday, July 15th, 2021

As if weddings aren’t sweet enough already, we got to witness one of our very own tie the knot too! Madison, assistant project manager here at The Brides of Oklahoma office, and her beau Chase made their love official first in an immediate-family-only ceremony during COVID-19 followed by this dreamy tented reception with garden details in shades of peach, pink, yellow, and blue a few months later. Planned and designed by Ever Something who provided all the romantic florals for the day as well, every scene around this September soiree was so tastefully styled. Madison and Chase have known each other for a while since Chase’s mom was Madison’s first grade teacher, but the two were never really friends until high school. Junior year, he asked her to prom and after that, he started finding what Maddy says were “pretty lame” excuses to randomly text her. Eventually she asked him to bring his old standard over for a chance to show off her driving skills. He took her up on the offer and afterward the pair stopped at Braum’s for ice cream as any true Oklahoma couple should! In their first and official wedding ceremony, neither party’s grandparents were in attendance, or anyone beyond their immediate families to be safe. Thinking more small-scale from the beginning, Maddy says this wasn’t as difficult as she thought it would be, but there were still a few sentimental moments she remembers from the day. “I wasn’t very attached to the large wedding we originally planned, so when COVID hit and things had to be rearranged, I was actually pretty relieved,” Maddy says. “On the morning of, I had a lot of calls and texts from friends and family members who should have been there. My grandma texted me a photo of my great grandparents on their wedding day – a simple, black and white portrait of them together. They had gone to the courthouse to say their vows and get their marriage license, then start a life together. The simplicity! It brought me to happy tears thinking about how full their life was and how I inadvertently ended up with a tiny wedding too – solely about vows and a lifelong commitment.”

That is absolutely what it’s all about! In their dreamy tented wedding reception, the bridal party mixed and matched bridesmaids’ gowns in delicate floral patterns just perfect for the garden theme. Organic and natural rentals from Party Pro Rents like bentwood chairs, rattan rentals, and a few boho baskets combined textures for a stunning weddingscape on private property. The tents and lighting brought so much romance and guests enjoyed a delicious dinner followed by a slice of this breathtaking three-tiered wedding cake from Allie’s Baking Boutique designed with iced leafy details, fresh florals and a few sliced figs. They danced the night away to jams played by entertainment from Box Talent Agency and though their dreamy tented wedding wasn’t the original plan, they made so many memories to last a lifetime! Read on for a note from the bride about one of her most helpful wedding vendors and what made them so special. Cheers to Mrs. and Mrs. Kurtz!

From the bride: “I truly would have given up and eloped if it weren’t for Olivia at Ever Something. And even then I would have still hired Olivia to help me plan our elopement! She has to be one of the hardest-working people I have ever met. She communicated with me regularly, helped me stay on top of contracts and important deadlines and literally jumped on the dance floor to teach my wedding guests a line dance at the reception.”

This Whimsical Boho Wedding is Like an Earth-Toned Dream

Monday, July 12th, 2021

We can hardly believe our eyes at how on-the-mark this whimsical boho wedding at Dream Point Ranch was! Maddy and Matt first met in English class and started dating during their freshman year of high school. The pair have been inseparable ever since, and are now officially wed! When it came to planning, both Maddy and Matt loved aspects of the boho wedding style but knew they wanted to add their own whimsical twist to the mix. Enter Malyn Made, who planned and designed every detail to go totally beyond their wildest dreams! Breathtaking views on the venue property made for a romantic ceremony under the open sky before everyone came indoors for the reception. Bride Maddy looked too good to be true in a Hayley Paige gown from Ellis Bridal featuring a full ballgown skirt and beaded floral bodice details. Bohemian rattan baskets suspended from the ceiling, raw wooden chairs, amber glass tabletop décor and more catch our eye, provided by Party Pro Rents among a few other local vendors that completely transformed the whitewashed venue interior. To top it all off, they celebrated with a four-tiered naked cake created by Sweet Devotion Cakery and adorned with earth-toned florals that coordinate perfectly with the whole whimsical boho wedding day. Read on for a note from the bride about her dream wedding maker and how they played such an important role. Cheers to Mr. and Mrs. Gaskins!

From the bride on her dream wedding maker: “Malyn Made all the way! I seriously couldn’t have done a single thing without her. I’m not kidding when I say besides the venue, which I already had picked out, she helped with every single detail. I’m indecisive, but also picky, so planning was super hard for me. Malyn made it so easy because she knew what I liked and narrowed down everything to make it really simple.”

An Urban Tulsa Proposal at The Canopy

Friday, July 9th, 2021

Pizza, bubbly and tropic details are some of our favorite things about this urban Tulsa proposal, but the first one would have to be Theo getting down on one knee to pop the question to Sarah – all captured by Caroline Eliza Co. so we can see their sweet reactions! Theo enlisted some help to put together a romantic setup where he surprised Sarah once by asking her to marry him, and then once more when all their closest friends and family members came out of the thick foliage around The Canopy to congratulate the stylish pair and celebrate their shiny new engagement! Pizza and picture-taking made for a fun-filled affair, and those who couldn’t make it were called on FaceTime to show off Sarah’s ring! See all the tropic romance in the gallery of this Tulsa proposal for yourself down below. Cheers!

What are some of the best budget-friendly, all-inclusive resorts?

It depends on your definition of budget-friendly, the type of resort you are looking for and the country. Secrets, Excellence, Zoetry and Unico are always great adults-only, all-inclusive options at a nice price point. We always visit with our clients on a discovery call to learn all about their honeymoon thoughts, dreams and budget. That will guide us to what we offer.

Best places with minimum restrictions for couples tying the knot within the coming months?

Mexico, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and Jamaica require no COVID testing to enter, so that makes it easier. However, a negative COVID test is required three days before your return flight to the U.S.

Will couples have to quarantine once arriving at their location?

That’s a hard one to answer. Each country has its own entry requirements. While yes, some do require a quarantine, there are lots of great options that don’t require a quarantine on arrival.

Is Cancun a safe destination at the moment?

As far as COVID, Mexico has done a great job with all of the protocols. Cancun is quite a safe destination, but with any place, you need to be aware of your surroundings at all times, use common sense and be vigilant. I always use properties that I love along with suppliers on the ground that take great care of my clients.

What is the most common alternative to a beach honeymoon?

I have a lot of honeymooners that love the mountains or love more of a cultural experience like Europe. If you love adventure travel, then we can arrange that too.

Is it reasonable for couples to plan for a trip to Europe in the fall?

Yes! Greece and Croatia are open and Italy is opening soon! We do anticipate others opening with certain requirements and restrictions. It’s ever-evolving.

What days of the week are the least expensive for traveling?

Tuesdays and Wednesdays can be less expensive to fly, but it’s certainly not a science, and it depends on the dates. Utilizing the help of a travel agent can ensure that you are getting the best possible prices for your travel and stay – no matter where you go!

An Elegant Tulsa Engagement Session from Andi Bravo Photography

Thursday, July 1st, 2021

There is so much love in this romantic and elegant Tulsa engagement captured by Andi Bravo Photography! Amy and Jake originally had their engagement session at Turner Falls but added a second session to include the city where they first fell in love! Downtown Tulsa made the perfect urban backdrop for these lovebirds posing in elegant attire (and Amy glammed up by MLB Artistry) ahead of their big day. Amy works as a local newscast and one day, Jake recognized her in person and knew he just had to say something! Two years of dating later and Jake proposed on Christmas Day of 2019 in Amy’s hometown of Pennsylvania, with her mom, dad, and sister around for a truly magical moment. For their June wedding at The Springs Venue in Sperry, the couple said they were most excited for the talented local wedding vendors responsible for creating the day. “We are working with a lot of really amazing and talented vendors who are helping bring our dream wedding vision to life,” Amy said. “I am also super excited that they’ve been so accepting of my crazy ideas!” Her wedding day dream team is made up of floral design by The Flower Shop Pryor, coordination from Poppy + Prim, live sketches and custom signage by Amy Lee Illustrations, along with so many more darling details all to be captured on photo and video by Andi Bravo Photography to relive for years to come. We can’t wait to see it all play out just as flawlessly as their elegant Tulsa engagement session down below. Read on for a note from the soon-to-be bride about the wedding details she’s most excited for and what she learned from the planning process. Cheers to the future Mr. and Mrs. Avery!

From the bride: “I never realized how fun wedding planning could be! Everyone talks about the stress of it all, and yes – it definitely can be stressful, but it can also be a beautiful way to incorporate each other’s personalities into even the smallest details… One of the vendors I’m working with, Callie Schmidt from The Flower Shop Pryor, is creating a beautiful balloon and flower arrangement to cover the staircase banisters for our grand entrance into the reception venue… I also had no idea what a wedding illustrator was until I met Amy from ‘Amy Lee Illustrations‘ at a wedding show. I fell in love with her talent and she was one of my first vendor hires. She is doing illustrations for our guests at our wedding and also made us a ‘signature drinks’ sign where we named the drinks after our dogs… She put so much heart into it and I can’t wait to see what our guests think!”

A Tented Summer Wedding with Elegant Blush and Black Accents

Monday, June 28th, 2021

Adrian and Indigo have got to be one of the sweetest pairs we’ve seen, and their bright, tented summer wedding was just as sweet of an affair, accented by lovely blush tones and contrasting pops of mod black. They started the big day getting prepped at the eclectic 21c Museum Hotel, where they hosted the rehearsal dinner as well. From getting ready in separate suites with their bridal parties and hair styled by Profile Beauty Nook to the couple’s first look where Indigo Smirnoff “Iced” Adrian like they often do at home, the day was full of love and warm memories for everyone involved. Personalized details are everywhere you look, mixed in with breathtaking whitewashed décor and lighting from Marianne’s Rentals to create the dreamiest outdoor tented summer wedding scenes. Romantic and elegant details play out on the brides’ tented reception tablescapes where guests enjoyed sips by Blue Label Bartending and eats before the time came to cut into the gorgeous four-tiered design Amy Cakes created for the newlyweds consisting of two sqaured layers stacked between two more round ones for a romantic, modern look. Both brides look simply stunning in their floral-inspired gowns, with Indigo in a V-neck with vining detail and Adrian in a beautiful illusion neckline from Bella Rose Bridal – Edmond and makeup by Profile Beauty Nook as well. They both look radiant with pure love for each other, friends, family, and of course their aborable fur babies throughout their tented summer wedding! Read on for a note from the beautiful brides about their favorite wedding day memory and what made it so special to them. Cheers to Mrs. and Mrs. Oliver!

From the brides: “Both of our favorite wedding day memories have to be the first look. After hours of being apart, seeing each other before driving over to the ceremony site felt like the first time each of us had taken a deep breath that day! The relief we both felt seeing each other solidified how excited we were to become each other’s person for life through marriage.”

Blush Pink Brings Rustic Romance to this Sorelle Wedding

Friday, June 25th, 2021

There is so much rustic romance to swoon over in this wedding around the light, airy Tuscan-inspired setting that is Sorelle – The Meadow on Deer Creek playing out in delicate blush pink and earth tones. Rachel and Kooper first met when they attended the same college and had a few mutual friends. Kooper got ahold of Rachel’s number and the rest was history! When the time was finally right, Kooper used a family affair as an opportunity to pop the question. Rachel’s family planned to head out to a special piece of land to take family photos in a clearing where they would one day break ground. While they were shooting, Rachel’s mom came up to help her fix her hair and when she turned around again, Kooper was down on one knee with a beautiful diamond ring from Kelley Jewelers that now sparkles in its place on her left hand. Rachel says she was completely shocked and overwhelmed with nothing but joy in that moment that she will never forget! Now in their summertime wedding at Sorelle, country elegance was definitely the mood and it was carried out so well through this entire affair. A rehearsal dinner at the venue started the wedding weekend out on a good note and Rachel and Kooper’s party people came back to celebrate them once more when they tied the knot! Greenery galore, wild and free-spirited florals, and rustic romance all around, this blush pink soiree was one for the books! Read on for a note from the bride about one of her favorite wedding day memories, her tear-jerking walk down the aisle and her now-husband’s adorable reaction! Cheers to Mr. and Mrs. Marsh!

From the bride: “Walking down the aisle and seeing Kooper’s reaction was the sweetest and purest moment I’ve ever experienced. I wasn’t sure if he was going to cry but man-oh-man he let out some tears!”

Fine Art + Garden Party Vibes Go Hand-in-Hand in this Wedding Editorial

Thursday, June 24th, 2021

A ranch wedding doesn’t have to mean rustic, and a purple color palette doesn’t have to be bold! This wedding editorial at Eight Ten Ranch & Cattle Co. proves both of these things to be true in fine art styled scenes that are giving us all the elegant indoor garden party vibes. Delicate lavender and pale pinks pop against the venue’s whitewashed interior while opulent gold and crystal flatware draw attention to well-decorated tablescapes. A vintage velvet pink couch from Scavenged Vintage Rentals brings even more style to the set and makes for a perfect photo op or place to stop and sit with your cocktail hour sips! Keep your guests satisfied with a heart-shaped arrangement of tacos or play into their sweet tooth with an ethereal four-tiered wedding cake design like this one! Whether you bring all the artsy balloon décor or lean into the venue’s natural ranch setting, this wedding editorial shows off how much range Eight Ten Ranch & Cattle Co. really has. Every darling detail was documented in the gallery below, and also captured on video by Andi Bravo Photography! Read on for a note from the photographer about the vision and design behind this indoor garden party wedding editorial. Cheers!

From the photographer: “This editorial was designed to show brides how to effectively incorporate purple into their wedding. Also, we wanted to showcase how a bride can have a fine art wedding at Eight Ten Ranch & Cattle Co. Adding balloons to a fine art wedding is tricky but we pulled it off with class. The balloons had to be arranged and decorated just right to have the correct appeal.”
